A split of coaches at Los Angeles Clippers brings Kim Hughes upfront as head coach whereas Mike Dunleavy steps down voluntarily. Michael Joseph Dunleavy, Sr. announced Wednesday he’s fired himself and asked Kim Hughes to take the responsibility who has already served the Clippers As assistant coach for 7 years.
It has been learned that 55-year-old Mike Dunleavy made the decision in the wake of upcoming challenges for the Los Angeles Clippers since his performance as head coach had question marks lately. The bizarre twist of power deemed necessary therefore; Dunleavy voluntarily stepped down. He had gone to Kim’s office to share his idea to which; Kim Hughes eventually agreed.
Since Kim has been a longtime assistant to Mike Dunleavy, there shouldn’t be any problem whatsoever for both the veterans to run the business as smoothly as ever. Even with the shift of powers, Dunleavy remains the general manager for the Clippers thus denying the rumors that he was actually fired from the job. He didn’t and the fact of the mater is; the inevitable was accepted by Mike in a graceful manner and he resigned only to switch over to other job, though low in rank.
The whole activity appears to be a mutual activity between the trio of Dunleavy, Kim Hughes and of course Donald T. Sterling, the proud owner of NBA’s best team Los Angeles Clippers. Sterling owns the team since 1981 whereby he acquired the same worth $12.5 million and ever since, making millions of trillions of dollars each year.
A subsequent statement by Dunleavy revealed that he was thankful to both Sterling and Kim Hughes for their cooperation and understanding of the whole situation. He stated that to him it was an ideal moment to direct his efforts to other personal opportunities and for Kim to take over new charge, though he never served as a head coach before.
